GOFAR Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what personal information GOFAR collects, how it is used, and your rights as a user. By using the GOFAR app you agree to the practices described here.

1 Who We Are

GOFAR is operated by AMT – Adelaide Motors and Tyres, located at 207–215 South Terrace, Wingfield, SA, Australia. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to AMT.

2 Information We Collect

3 How We Use Your Information

4 Third-Party Services

We share data with the following trusted third parties solely to deliver the app's functionality:

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.

5 Location Data

GOFAR requests foreground location only — location is accessed while the app is open, not in the background. Location is used to:

Location data is processed on-device and is not stored on our servers beyond the current session unless you explicitly save a parking location.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specifically:

7 Account Deletion & Data Management

GOFAR provides two separate data management options in the app, accessible from Profile:

Clear Local Cache (Device section)

This option only clears cached data stored locally on your device, such as cached vehicle information, bookings, and app preferences. It does not affect your account or any data stored on our servers. Your account remains active and all server-side data is preserved. You will not be signed out.

Delete Account (dedicated red section in Profile)

This option permanently and irreversibly deletes your account and ALL associated data from our servers. Specifically, the following data is deleted:

When you tap "Delete Account", you are presented with two confirmation dialogs before the deletion proceeds:

  1. First confirmation: Explains that all data (vehicles, bookings, service history, notifications) will be permanently deleted from our servers, you will be signed out, and the action cannot be undone. Options: "Cancel" or "Delete My Account".
  2. Second confirmation: A final "Are you absolutely sure?" prompt restating that all personal information will be permanently removed and the account cannot be recovered. Options: "Cancel" or "Yes, Delete Everything".

Once confirmed, the app sends a deletion request to our server (DELETE /api/customer/account), which removes your account record and all associated data from the database. You are then immediately signed out of the app. This action cannot be undone and the account cannot be recovered.

How to find it: Open the app → Profile tab (bottom right) → scroll down past Security, Notifications, and Help sections → look for the "Delete Account" section (styled in red with a trash icon).

8 Your Rights

Under applicable Australian privacy law (Privacy Act 1988), you have the right to:

9 Children's Privacy

GOFAR is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10 Account Authentication & Security

GOFAR uses email and password authentication to protect your account. Here is how we handle your credentials:

11 Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), bcrypt password hashing, secure token-based authentication, and encrypted device storage for session tokens. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we take all reasonable precautions.

12 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes, we will notify users via the app or email.
